Led by Michael Loubser, our practice is dedicated to eliminating the "Tassie chill." We specialise in the Passive House (Passivhaus) standard, using rigorous data and the Passivhaus Planning Package (PHPP) to design homes that stay at a stable, healthy temperature year-round—without the need for traditional heating.

I am often referred to as the "Builders’ Architect" because I value the construction process as much as the design itself. I believe that a great building is born from a handshake, not just a drawing board.

I speak the language of the site. My background is rooted in deep collaboration with trades, providing high-detail documentation and clear "instruction manuals" that reduce risk, streamline the build, and ensure the technical integrity of the building envelope. Whether we are aiming for full certification or a high-performance solar dwelling, I work with builders to ensure every line drawn is a line that can be built efficiently.

While my focus is firmly on the Tasmanian landscape, my expertise in high-performance building science is sought after across Australia.

I currently serve as a Passive House Designer for specialist builders in South Australia and maintain strong collaborative ties with the high-performance building community in Perth. This interstate consulting work keeps LOUBSER WORKSHOP at the cutting edge of national building trends, allowing me to bring world-class innovation and technical precision back to my local Tasmanian clients.
