Aspect Passivhaus | Insulated Precast Concrete Home

This family home is aiming for Passivhaus certification and will blend a Japanese inspired minimalist aesthetic with ultimate performance.

The Project: A Japanese-inspired minimalist aesthetic meets ultimate thermal performance. Perched on a north-facing slope with optimal solar orientation, this off-grid family home is a study in self-sufficiency—featuring full solar and battery storage, rainwater harvesting, and on-site waste management. A refined screened facade tempers the sun while providing a layer of privacy from the world beyond.

The On-Site Strategy: As the builder’s own home and their first foray into the Passive House standard, the collaboration is deeply technical. The design utilises insulated precast concrete walls, requiring meticulous detailing to ensure continuity of the insulation and airtightness. By utilising specialised expanding tapes from Pro Clima and providing a comprehensive precast schedule and airtight junction details, we have ensured the project is set for certification success long before the foundations are poured.
